Terms of Service

Last updated: May 1, 2025

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using SettleEasy. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use SettleEasy.

1. About SettleEasy

SettleEasy ("we," "our," or "us") is a Canadian technology service based in Ontario, Canada. We operate the SettleEasy web application at www.settleeasy.ca, which provides an AI-assisted tool to help newcomers and permanent residents in Canada identify federal and provincial government benefit programs they may be eligible for.

SettleEasy is an information and discovery tool only. We are not a government agency, legal service, immigration consultant, or financial advisor. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal, immigration, financial, or tax advice.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SettleEasy, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your province), that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SettleEasy after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

3. What SettleEasy Does and Does Not Do

SettleEasy uses the information you provide (province, immigration status, household composition, income range, and tax filing history) to generate a personalized list of government benefit programs that you may qualify for, along with links to official government application pages.

  • SettleEasy does NOT apply for benefits on your behalf.
  • SettleEasy does NOT guarantee eligibility for any program. Eligibility is determined solely by the relevant government authority.
  • SettleEasy does NOT provide legal, immigration, financial, or tax advice.
  • SettleEasy does NOT access, store, or transmit your Social Insurance Number (SIN), government ID, passport, or banking information.
  • SettleEasy does NOT have any affiliation with, endorsement from, or official relationship with the Government of Canada or any provincial government.

Benefit program information is maintained by our team and updated periodically, but program rules, amounts, and eligibility criteria change frequently. Always verify current information on the official government website before applying.

4. Accuracy of Information

We make reasonable efforts to keep benefit program information accurate and up to date. However, we make no warranties or representations about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any information on SettleEasy for any particular purpose.

Government benefit programs are subject to change without notice. SettleEasy is not responsible for any errors, omissions, or outdated information, or for any actions taken or not taken based on the information provided by this service. You are solely responsible for verifying eligibility and completing applications through official government channels.

5. User Responsibilities

By using SettleEasy, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information in the intake questionnaire to the best of your knowledge.
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce the benefit database or matching algorithm.
  • Not use the service to submit false or misleading information.
  • Verify all benefit eligibility and application requirements independently through official government sources before applying.

6. Premium Subscription

SettleEasy offers a free tier and a paid Premium subscription. Premium features include enhanced benefit matching, PDF report downloads, shareable reports, and annual benefit update alerts. Subscriptions are billed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor.

  • Subscription fees are charged at the time of purchase and are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • We reserve the right to modify Premium features or pricing with reasonable notice.
  • Free tier features may be changed or discontinued at any time.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, SettleEasy and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use SettleEasy, including but not limited to:

  • Missed benefit applications or deadlines based on information from SettleEasy.
  • Denial of benefit applications by government authorities.
  • Errors or omissions in benefit program information.
  • Loss of data or unauthorized access to your information.
  • Any reliance on SettleEasy as a substitute for professional legal, immigration, or financial advice.
